I remember when life was good
I played with the monkey
The monkey was my guard
The damson flies were my barriers
I remember when life was evil
when the devils chucked rubbish in me, it hurt

RIVER POEM
by Adam y6
Year 4 have been having fun creating some monstrously good poems. They have written poems based on The Troll by Jack Prelutsky. These poems have a distinctive rhythm and rhyming pattern. They are quite difficult to write as the poet needs to count the syllables in each line to make sure the rhythm is maintained and find rhyming words which keep to the theme of the poem. I think Year 4 have made a great job of them and I hope you like them too! Feel free to leave us a comment about our work!

He’ll catch you if you are not quick
He’ll drag you to his hole
He’ll hit you with a great big stick
and put you in his bowl .

Be wary of the angry Og
Through night and day he prowls.
He’s got a best friend called the Trog
And every day he growls.

Be wary viscous Ming.
That slyly hides away.
He’ll dance around and shout and sing.
He hides away at day.

Be wary of the angry Ming
That slyly hides away.
Be careful of the song he sings
And he’ll haunt you night and day.
His eyes are deep and red like fire
He gurgles and he groans.
His hair is as sharp as razor wire
And he’ll grind up your little bones.

Be wary of the angry Flesh
that sneaks into your house
he even storks your baby’s creche
he eats tails of a mouse.

Be wary of the angry trog
That creeps and climbs away
He might gust drag you to his log
And keep you there all day.

Be wary of the devil like Chane
He spits fire on to trees
He breaths like a hurricane
He has spikes on his knees.
