It has been a busy week for our football team after a cold Winter meant many of the games didn’t get played.  On Friday the team travelled to St.Josephs Primary School.  We were beasten convincingly by a very strong side.  The final score 5-2.  Our goals were scored by Jack and George.

This afternoon, the team travelled to Westgate Primary School.  We went down a goal midway through the first half but were back on level terms by half time after a fantastic goal from George.  Jack put us 2-1 up with a wonder strike in the second half before Westgate equalised.  This last goal seemed to give Westgate lots of confidence and they finally snatched a late winner.  Most agreed that a draw would have been a fairer result, but that’s football!

ALL agreed that the game was played in good spirit and we were treated to some very impressive football from both sides.  Well done to both teams!

The Team!

Sports Day 2007 fell nicely in the middle of Be Healthy Week.  Somehow, Lisker Drive escaped the rain clouds which swirled around us all day today for our annual summer competition.

Key Stage 1 and Nursery were first off in the morning.  They raced in a number of events including the sack race, the 40m dash, the circuit race and the shuttle run.

In the afternoon, Key Stage 2 took centre stage and battled out over similar events.

We were so impressed with the attitude of the children.  Every member of every class tried their best today.  Here are some photos:

Many thanks to Mrs Hatfield for all her careful planning and organisation.  Unfortunately this was her last Sports Day as she will be leaving us at the end of the year.

THANKS FOR MAKING OUR SPORTS DAYS GREAT MRS HATFIELD!!

Year 4 travelled to Prince Henry’s Grammar School after school today to take part in the Year 4 Athletics Festival, organised by St.Mary’s School Sport Partnership.

All Saints had a fantastic turnout, entering an A and a B team.  As always, David Nutt and his team organised a first class event which all the children thoroughly enjoyed.

Star performers for Team A were Beth, Helen, Conor and Zac.  For Team B, the star performers were Jack, Matthew, Zoe and Alex.  I think you were all stars and I was really proud of all of you!

Here we are in action!

BIG ‘thank yous’ to parents who braved Otley’s traffic nightmare to get the children up on time, to David and his team of excellent helpers and to the children for giving their best and being great ambassadors of our school!Mr Robertson

The first match of the post-Winter break kicked off on Thursday 15th March with a cracking game of football at the All Saints ground.  All Saints lined up a slightly altered team for this match giving Farrimond a free role in midfield and giving debuts to Briggs and Robinson.

The game started at a frenetic pace with neither team able to find a breakthrough.  In fact during the first half it seemed that the most likely scorer would be Leeds, the All Saints’ Goalkeeper, with his long-range kick outs.

Half time came and both sides regrouped.  Again, the second half started at a high tempo and it wasn’t until Cook turned and pounced upon a Farrimond through-ball that the deadlock was finally broken, the ball being smashed home into the roof of the net.

All Saints were clearly elated, but now had a hard 15 mins ahead of them as the St. Josephs team tried to find an equaliser.  All Saints hung on though with some resolute defending to claim all three points.

Well played to both teams who displayed great sportspersonship throughout and great skill.

Thanks also to Mr Griffin and Mr Farnaby for their help with the goalposts.

Team: Leeds, Griffin, Farnaby, Featherstone, Farrimond (c), Atkinson, Gardener, Robinson, Cook, Briggs

Ashfield 1 – Otley All Saints 1 09.11.06

The points were shared between All Saints and Ashfield after a superb display of football at The Ashfield Ground.
Both teams were full of confidence after good wins in their previous matches, but it was Ashfield that started brightest with Goalkeeper Leeds having to soak up lots of early pressure.

It wasn’t long until All Saints found their feet however and started to pressure the excellent Ashfield Goalkeeper.  Some great  interplay between the midfield of Cook, Gardener and Atkins lead to Walton becoming free inside the Ashfield area.  He managed to keep his composure and rattled the roof of the net with a right-foot drive.
Ashfield tried hard to come straight back into the game, but the defence of Farnaby, Farrimond and Featherstone proved too hard to break down and All Saints went in 1 nil up at half time.
All Saints started well after the break with winger Atkins a constant menace to the Ashfield defence.  However, it was Ashfield who restored the game to level terms after a good piece of skill which left All Saints Keeper Leeds with no chance.
The rest of the game saw action at both ends of the field, but at full-time the score remained 1 – 1, which was a fair result.
The game was played at a high tempo throughout and both teams should be commended for the competitive but sporting manner in which they played.  Thanks also to the parents who travelled across a fairly gridlocked Otley to the match and stayed and supported the team.
All Saints will have some time to prepare for their next match as we break until early Spring.
All Saints: Leeds, Farnaby, Farrimond (c), Featherstone, Atkins, Gardener, Cook, Walton.  Subs: Proctor, Griffin, Burrows.
Goals: Walton (5), Ashfield (30)

A superb Louis Cook Double helped All Saints cruise to victory in Thursday’s opening 8-a-side fixture.

All Saints had trained hard for the previous two weeks and travelled to The Whartons with a good team spirit.

It was All Saints who started brightest on the day, putting lots of pressure on a well-organised Whartons back three.  Whartons too enjoyed some good early possession and were unlucky not to go ahead within the first five minutes, but for some resolute defending from Farnaby and brave goalkeeping from Leeds.
The breakthrough came after some good pressure from the All Saints midfield of Atkins, Gardner and Cook.  It was Gardener who found the net, driving the ball home after 8 minutes.
Whartons responded with some good football, but the hard-working trio of Featherstone, Farrimond and Farnaby proved very difficult to break down in defence.  Any high balls were cut out by the good heading skills of Farnaby.
The lead was doubled on 14 minutes when hard-working striker Walton ran through on goal but was blocked by a brave save from the Whartons keeper.  The rebound was smashed home by Cook, however to put All Saints comfortably in 2-0 up at half time.
During the second half Whartons played some good football, but went 3-0 down when Cook drove home his second of the day after some great battling in midfield.
Whartons did pull back a well-taken goal on 37 minutes to make it 3-1, but it was to be just a consolation.
