Here is a book review of The Invisible Dog by Dick king-Smith.

The Characters

There is a girl and a dog. They are very touching and the girl is mostly in the story.

The Story

There is a girl who really wants a dog, a Harlequin, but her dad says she can only have one if she gets £500!

Likes

I liked it where she won £200 and when she was told it was only £100. My favourite was when she got one.

Dislikes

I think it could be improved because when someone says something it always says ’said’.

How it made me feel

Well it wasn’t too scary or funny but a bit of both.

What I learned

I learned if you ask for things and try hard you may get them.

Who would like this book?

I think Year 5 and 6 would like it beacuse it has hard words and they’d like it.

When I was a young boy, I was a really reluctant reader. I used to love reading non-fiction books, but could never get ‘hooked’ on a story book. That was until I was about 10 and found these new books (well they were new at the time) called Fighting Fantasy books. They were books that placed you as the hero in the story and you had to make choices throughout the book to succesfully get to the end of the story. I was hooked and I genuinely attribute my love of books as an adult to these books.

So, if you are a member of Year 4, 5 or 6, you might just receive an invitation to a new club starting at school soon!

Thomas in Y3 went to Saltaire Music Festival recently. While he was there he bought these two books and had them signed by the author. Now he has had chance to read them, he would like to let other people know about them.
Noah’s Rocket by Tony Frais
This is the story of Noah’s Ark set in the world of today. Noah builds a giant space rocket to go around the Earth while the flood is going on. I liked it because… it was very funny and good.
Stanley’s Space Adventure by Tony Frais
In this story Stanley the spider goes back to space! He visits the planet Fruton and Vegeton where fruit and vegetables live! I liked this story because… it was funny and good. I liked Stanley the spider and his red space suit. Stanley helps the fruit and vegetables to live together in harmony

I remember when life was good
I played with the monkey
The monkey was my guard
The damson flies were my barriers
I remember when life was evil
when the devils chucked rubbish in me, it hurt

This book tells you about trains in the olden times and trains now. Did you know there are some trains that hang in the sky. I like the trains that slide on the tracks. Buy this book if you like trains.

This book is about a very young kitten and a little girl. The girl sees a white kitten frozen and scared on the beach. The little girl goes out onto the beach with her mum and finds the kitten getting splashed by the waves. They get the kitten, bring it into the house and give it warm milk. It is good because the girl saves the kitten. Put it on your Christmas list!
