Reception,Years 1 and 2 recently enjoyed a visit to Otley Courthouse to watch a performance of ‘Who’s Been Sitting In My Chair?’ It was a fabulous morning presented to us by Simon Hatfield who brought all the characters to life with lights, music and numerous props!

Last week Year 1 enjoyed a fantastic visit to Harlow Carr Gardens in Harrogate. We spent the morning with Debbie in the classroom learning about different seeds, planting our own pots and making leaves out of clay.In the afternoon we were all set a different challenge by Mrs Armitage. They included looking for signs of spring, different patterns and colours and finding as many leaves as they could.

Lars and Kate really enjoyed looking for different shaped leaves on the “leaf hunt” Debbie set them.

George said: “I had a great day out and especially liked it when Mrs Marston found an iris plant called “George.”

Freddie,Lucy and Gus had the most fun planting carrot seeds and are looking forward to seeing them grow.Carrots for tea anyone?

Mrs Armitages group were set the challenge of finding as many flowers as they could.

Matthew and Lewis thought the best part of the day was when Mollie was turned into a seed and they had to water her!

The end of a grand day out!!!!!!

It has been a busy week for our football team after a cold Winter meant many of the games didn’t get played.  On Friday the team travelled to St.Josephs Primary School.  We were beasten convincingly by a very strong side.  The final score 5-2.  Our goals were scored by Jack and George.

This afternoon, the team travelled to Westgate Primary School.  We went down a goal midway through the first half but were back on level terms by half time after a fantastic goal from George.  Jack put us 2-1 up with a wonder strike in the second half before Westgate equalised.  This last goal seemed to give Westgate lots of confidence and they finally snatched a late winner.  Most agreed that a draw would have been a fairer result, but that’s football!

ALL agreed that the game was played in good spirit and we were treated to some very impressive football from both sides.  Well done to both teams!

Well done to all the children who completed the Salts Mill Treasure Hunt today – I am looking forward to seeing all your answers on Monday!  It was lovely to hear you all talking about the art.  I hope you enjoyed the visit.  Here are some pictures of some of you:

It will be great to see some of you at Salts Mill tomorrow. I am looking forward to having a good look round the gallery and seeing some of David Hockney’s work first hand.

I realise that it is not possible for all families to come along tomorrow.  I will be giving children a Hockney ‘Treasure Hunt’ to complete and this is available to download by anyone who would like to attend the gallery another time.

Children in classes from Nursery to Year 2 were entertained today by children from Years 3 and 4 reading a story to them. Books had been brought in from home on a multicultural theme that would be suitable for a younger audience. Well done to all the readers! I think the faces on the photographs show how much your listeners enjoyed the stories.

Years 5 and 6 didn’t miss out on marking the day – they went to Otley Library to listen to author, Livi Michael, talking about her work and introducing her latest book.

Year 4 walked down to the Courthouse today.  We were glad to get there in good time, especially as outside it was so blustery.

We were there to to see the Multi-Story production of The Golden Key.  The play is loosely based upon a story by George MacDonald, who was a friend of Lewis Carroll.

During the play, we met a baby who turned out to be the oldest man in the world, a fish that flies, a beautiful woman who is a grandmother, some fearsome French maids and the terrifying Shadow Master.

It’s a story about Tangle and Mossy – two children who don’t like each other very much at the start of the play but who both find something very precious after their long adventure together – friendship.

We loved this play and would recommend it to anyone who likes a good adventures story.

Y4 and Y6 visited the Courthouse today to watch the amazing Annapurna Dance company perform.  We hear stories about Ramayana and watched graceful dancing and brilliant puppetry.  Even some of our teachers got up and enjoyed the dancing!

The wonderful staff at Grove House have kindly sent us a CD packed with photos.

Here are a few to whet your appetites. Themed posts will follow over the next few weeks!
