The air raid

IT was Friday evening at last,Susan and William had finished their week.
they sat down at the table, they were starving. but there was nothing much, just bacon
and powdered egg .”what are you doing mum “?
“I’m packing some food and warm drinks , a jumper and du vets ” mum replied .
Then mum asked me and William to put up the black out boards .

” Right you go of to bed ” exclaimed mum. t was tiered but i didn’t
like going to bed just in case that we had a air raid sirens and bombs .
I had just settled down to sleep when the air raid siren went off and people screaming
My mother ran up the stairs , picked me up rushed William down the stairs and started heading for the air raid shelter . My mum ran back for the things she had packed earlier.

Luckily in the air raid shelter was our gas masks . mum lit a candle . ” ah that’s better
. under the bench was a old dusty board game that had been there for weeks .
William picked it up and started setting it out .”Come on sis cheer up.” I couldn’t
cheer up I couldn’t stop thinking about the bunny in the kitchen.
“If you play the game you’ll feel better “,mum said as she put her arms around me.

IT got later and later and I got sleepier and sleepier but the bombs got louder
. My mum put a warm thick blanket around me and passed a cup of tea.
Will the bombs ever stop?

Just then the all clear siren went of. Phew was I pleased .
I got out of the shelter then realised our house had been bombed . “OHH mum ” I gasped
“what darling ”
“It’s our house it’s been bombed”.

Tawny’s Air Raid

I could hear my own voice on the radio.Me,a famous comedienne
on the BBC.I could hear my fans going “Neeeeeaaaaa…”

I woke up as the air raid sirens were going full blast.I quickly
grabbed my teddy and hair brush.Hairbrush? What did
I do that for?”No time to think!”Screamed Mum as we rushed
to the public shelter.

Me and my baby sister were the last ones in.Lily cried.”No
need to worry.Owls are night birds!”.I love owls,so
that’s what I always say to lil’ if she gets ‘air raid phobia!’

When we were in everyone seemed miserable.Aha! A use for
my hairbrush.I walked up on the pile of sandbags,
held my hair brush to my face and began…

…”Hiya,folks!”I winked”Hiya!”Screamed the village!
“I’m Tracy Carnise. My friends call me Tawny. That goes
no saying!”I said, pointing to my owl pyjamas.I told
various old jokes after that, but everyone still cheered! This
is the life!

“Ooohkay!”I laughed”Lets have a finale of
‘We’ll meet again’,123.. Lets say goodbye with a smile
dear…

…But I know we’ll meet again some sunny day!”We
all sang. But we did more, when we sung the last note the
bombers went.At last going home time.We had our
neighbors in too,(their house was destroyed)but we
weren’t too fussed.I hope that was the last for tonight!

World war 2

It was a stormy night. I was just about to go to bed but then… I heard a noise it sounded like a fire engine .My mum was shouting bombers , bombers. That noise was the air raid siren.
We rushed to the shelters like a shooting star.I got in my mum filled the door with sand bags then the roof of the shelter. she blacked windows out.She left a hole for to get in when she was in we put the last sand bag in .I said “will the house still be there tomorrow”.
then a bomb hit the house .

In the morning all the street was gone and the next street was gone as well.my Best friends house was gone .my friend was lying dead on the ground her mum was sobbing.

I was wondering about my dad what if hes dead?”I kept saying to my self”.My mum was so up set because she lost her house.”where should we live “we yelled. We will have to live in the
underground.

The air raid.
We were using up are last milk rations for our coco. My brother and I were watching the sun go down. It was a beautiful sight! We were listening to the radio, suddenly the siren went off. My mother was yelling at me,
“Get out now” she exclaimed.

The only comfort is knowing that I have my family around me. My farther was at war, he flew a spit-fire. He was always so brave, why can’t I be more like him now?

The bunker was freezing and small. People huddled together to keep warm. Our feet were wet from the rain and all our clothing is damp. It’s impossible to get comfortable. We didn’t get to sleep till late. All throw the night there was loud bangs. It seemed as if it was never going to stop. But then, I listened there was no loud bangs and no propellers moving. I knew it was safe to go out of the bunker. There, out the door I heard the tweeting of birds. I knew it was over!

We were sitting round the radio eating biscuits, when the sirens started.
“What’s that sound mum? ” I said .
” Its the air raids Sally ,” said mum.
We all rushed into the shelter . It was my first time in the shelter.
I was scared, confused and slightly excited.
Alex(my little sister ) was crying . My mum had to carry her out of the house because dad was a
way in the war.In the shelter, it was not at all like home. It was dusty, damp and not very comfortable. We waited and waited and waited for 5 minutes and still no all clear sirens.
“When is it going to end mum?” I said .
I was very squashed because we had to share with both our neighbours.
The all clear sirens went off 2 hours later. Our house was there and so was our street. But will it be our house next time?

We were sitting in the living room listening to the radio , when suddenly the siren went off.Everyone including me ran to the Anderson shelter. While we ran I saw a German plane coming over the hill.

We were all safe in the Anderson shelter but it was freezing. Every minute felt like an hour. It was boring but at the same time scary. I felt helpless. Will are house be there tomorrow? Suddenly a bomb went off. It felt like the bomb went off right next to us. But wait.Did it. I went out of the Anderson shelter to see what the sky was like. It was red and orange and I could see loads of German planes coming over our houses. In are Anderson shelter I told them all about it. They were scared. I heard them above flying across . That was the last of them. I was the first to go out. Thankfully our house was not bombed but the street had a big hole in the middle.

We were all lying in the bed when the bombing began and the sirens started.  We were so scared.  We got out of bed.  My mum grabbed some food.  I grabbed a teddy. My dad grabbed a book.  We ran so fast into the garden and into the air raid shelter.  We sat on some old wooden chairs, hoping that our house wouldn’t get bombed.

We put our gas masks on.  It smelled like rubber. I knew we were at war.  My mum wrapped me up in her arms.  It felt like the darkness never ended.  We waited for the bombs to stop.  We all sang happy songs. Some of the children went to sleep.  My dad read his book.  My mum slept all the way through.  Suddenly it got louder and more planes came in.  Then it stopped and it all went quiet.  The bombs had stopped.  Hopefully for the last time.
