Can the tallest person run the fastest?

Year 2 tried to find out.
Most of the class predicted that the tallest person was not the fastest runner, and they turned out to be right.
Everyone got into height order, each had a number to keep track of tall/short/inbetween people then everyone ran three different races to make sure the results were fair.
On each occasion the fastest runner proved to be someone of medium height.

Year 2 Multiskills

11 children from Year 2 attended a fun multiskills session with other schools at PHGS this week. They took part in mixed teams and when results were revealed at the end, every team with an Otley All Saints pupil had won at least one event. Well done!

George the Bearded Dragon pays Year 1 a visit

Year 1 had a visit from Jack Samples daddy today along with family pet George.George is a bearded dragon from Australia.He is 5 years old and lives in a special 4ft heated glass tank.His favourite foods are locusts,beetles and crickets along with salad vegetables and red apples!
The children took turns to stroke George, who was very patient,and had the chance to ask any questions they had.

Rainforest Soundmakers

Here are some of the soundmakers Year 6 made at the end of Year 5.

The children explored how sound could be altered in different ways. They then created an instrument to produce a sound that might be heard in the Amazon Rainforest.

Each instrument has been decorated with plants and animals from the forest.

The Start of an Adventure

We all began an adventure today in Year 4. We arrived in the strange land you see below. None of us knew whether the land was safe or not and what our reason was for being there. After a while, we entered the building behind us and managed to gather some information by interviewing two rather talented scientists (Luke and Sam!)

They told us that their planet was in trouble and that we may be able to help them. I am really looking forward to seeing how this adventure pans out…

…something else exciting happened! A letter and a parcel arrived in school, addressed to Sophie, c/o her new evacuee address!

Inside was a letter from Sophie’s Mum talking about how things were back in the city. Sophie was even lucky enough to receive a special World War II style teddy! Thanks Sophie’s Mum!

Baking WWII Style

Well done to Ingrid’s mum who helped three of the girls in our class to make some bread according to a World War 2 recipe!

And thank you for sending some in for all of us – as you can see, there was none left over!

Visitors from Norway

We were also lucky enough to have some visitors from Norway in our school last week. 4 student teachers came to visit us and see how things are done in an English primary School. All remarked on what polite, well behaved children we have. I agree!

Ms. Karina taught us a Norwegian song, shared some stunning photos of the Northern Lights, explained that in December the sun will disappear for a whole Month and even had time to tell us a story about a troll!

Mr Cluderay

We were honoured to welcome Rose’s Grandad, Mr Cluderay into school last week. Mr Cluderay was a Marine during World War II and talked to us about his experiences all over the world.

The children had thought of some great questions and Mr Cluderay answered them brilliantly. Thank you for everything, Mr Cluderay!
