The Withered Woman

Her nose was like a potato; from a twisted jaw four pieces of corn stuck out; her cheeks were grey and droopy; she had yellow watery eyes, and her hands were cracked and knobbled. Her body looked like there was a jagged rock beneath her gown. From her head a few lank strands of hair hung. She looked withered as an old tree.

Well done to everyone for an excellent performance this afternoon. I really enjoyed it. Here are a couple of photos of Year 2 as snowflakes getting ready to perform with Jessica and the baby.

Beautiful, glittery snowflakes
Winter is sparkly.

The freezing weather we are having at the moment will be making life quite hard for our garden birds.

Remember, you can help them by putting a shallow container, filled with fresh water, into your garden and checking it regularly to make sure it has not frozen up!

Perhaps you could provide some tasty bird food too.

Please find some large pine cones over the holidays. We are going to use them to make pine cone feeders in January!

Brrrrrhh!

Thank you to everyone who supported our Christmas Fair last Saturday, either by helping, sponsoring, advertising or coming along to spend some money.  Although the final total is not yet known, it has been a very successful event on a larger scale than in previous years; huge thanks to our PTA committee led by Karen McHale who worked so hard to organise the day – it was much appreciated by everyone.  Thank you too to Sarah Davey, who organised our Family Quiz Night and raised over £200 for Children In Need – certainly an event that we would look to repeat in the future.

The Red Knight

Suddenly Arthur’s voice was silenced as a dramatic, red, giant of a man entered the hall. A fiery bird sat on his right shoulder while he was holding a sword in his left hand. The saddle he was sitting on was studded with rubies, its beautifully stitched leather shone in the dim candle light of the hall. His massive charger, which stood behind him, well that was just a brilliant red all over. The Knight’s red trousers were ripped, his knee pads hung down on his shins.
He spoke: ” I am here to challenge you king Arthur Pendragon, do you accept?”

Another Red Knight

King Arthur had hardly uttered a word when there was a loud menacing knock on the door. Maid Buttercross opened it . . .

In strode a knight, not any old knight but a knight red as fire – burning with rage.
His skin was red, his beard was crimson, his lank hair scarlet. He had a saddle,
red as a phoenix and he held, high above his head, a blood stained axe. His scarlet clothes were studded with rubies and garnets.

Year 5 on Friday  the 7th December 1887.

I’m not sure how the Smartboard got there though!

There were some sad faces in Year 5 on Friday, as it was Mrs Rivett’s last day at Otley All Saints. However we were determined to make sure that she knew how much we have all appreciated her work in our classroom.

Mrs Rivett sharing her farewell card with the artists!

We hope Ethan will enjoy sharing our card with his mum too!
