This is how I spent my October Break – how did you spend yours?

I went camping and hiking in the Cairngorm Mountains in Scotland:

I climbed some big snowy mountains:

And made some friends too…

There will be no drama club this week – the next drama session will be after half term on Thursday 6th November.

Year 4 have been thinking about our dreams.  We have been trying to produce some montages with dreamlike qualities to them.  Here is one produced by Ryan and Elden that I think is both dreamlike and very powerful:

The finished ‘Habitat Pile’.

Isn’t it fantastic!

Thank you to everyone who contributed materials towards our minibeast des res.

A special thank you to Dion Auriac and the Groundwork team for all their brilliant work.

A strange collection of pine cones, branches and broken pots arrived in the Year 5 cloakroom yesterday morning as everyone was eager to provide something for the ‘Habitat Pile’.

Impatiently, we watched as the children in Key Stage one, followed by those in Year 3 and Year 4, donned gloves and arranged their contributions.

Finally, it was our turn! Here we are building the tower!

In Year 4 we had a brilliant time helping to build the habitat tower.  We are looking forward to our habitat topic in the Summer Term when we can go and have a proper investiagte and see who’s moved in!

Thanks to Greencheck, Mrs Allison and the children and their families for sending in such great stuff!

Here we are in action:

Year 4 will know that this means “Heads, shoulders, knees and toes!” as they have been learning the names of some body parts in French over the last two weeks.

We drew around ourselves and labelled the finished characters!

Yesterday Year 2 went to Ilkley Literature Festival to listen to Catherine Rayner and Anushkar Ravishanker read their stories and talk about their work.
Today Catherine Rayner, an author and illustrator, came to talk to the class and work with them in school.

Catherine’s first book “Augustus and his Smile” (all the children have a signed copy to take home)

Year 2 showed Catherine the pictures they drew after yesterday’s trip

Having brought in a wide selection of materials Year 2 were the first class to get gloves on and start building the habitat pile. I wonder what creatures will choose the ground floor as their new home.
