We have been communicating with some new friends in Finland.  Although they live in Finland, they are all French children and go to school in a special French class. Their parents all work at a power station in Rauma, South West Finland.  We sent some cards through to them last week and this morning we were thrilled to receive some cards back! Here we are with our Christmas cards:

Merci beaucoup et joyeux noël!

Today Year 4 spent the whole day immersed in Science (and other subjects too!) making interactive quiz boards.

We resrearched our topics using the internet and found some pictures to print out.

We used our knowledge of simple circuits to create question and answer boards that would light up a bulb when the correct answer was chosen.  Here are some photos:

This it what the back of our boards looked like:

We have been learning a French Christmas song today in Year 4. Here we are having a go at singing it!

Year 2 have been busy designing and making puppets. They experimented with ideas in paper, learnt to sew and make templates. Once they had finished the puppets they performed puppet shows to the class.

We had fun today in Year 4 making some batteries out of lemons.  We used a zinc nail, a copper coin and a lemon to produce small amounts of electiricty.  This follows on from our work on salt-water batteries last week.  We produced enough voltage to power a pocket calculator and a stopwatch.  We have left the stopwatch running overnight to see if it is still going in the morning.

Here are some pictures of the experiment:

* We did this experiment safely and under supervision.  We know not to try any electrical experiments on our own.
