The Nursery

Our nursery is an integral part of Otley All Saints, offering places to children in the local area.  Intention to apply to Otley All Saints Primary School is not a requirement for attending, and attending does not guarantee a place at the school.

We have 26 places for each of our sessions, and are organised along Leeds City Council guidelines in accordance with the government recommendations in the ‘Starting With Quality’ report.  Unlike most privae settings, our nursery is led by a qualified teacher.

All children are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education from the start of the term after their third birthday.  Children of parents who both work may be entitled to 30 free hours.

We have a light and airy indoor classroom and a beautiful outdoor space which children have direct access to every day.

The indoor area is divided into discrete working areas which include sand, water, paint, design, malleable materials, reading, maths, mark making, role play, movement, and small world imaginative play.  Children are encouraged to access the apparatus and materials they wish to use from the labelled baskets and shelves and to replace things they have finished with.

Outdoor we encourage the children to be active, to play collaboratively, to take risks and know their limitations. Part of the area is sheltered to enable us to play out whatever the weather!

Key nursery staff are Miss Wilson (Mon-Wed), Mrs Thomson-Smith (Thurs-Fri) and Mrs Fawcett.  All are highly experienced, having worked with foundation stage children for many years.
